Sidewinder community

There are many ways that you can help the Sidewinder open source project: from producing samples to adding to the documentation; from answering questions on the mailing lists to actually rolling up your sleeves and writing code.

Mailing lists

Mailing lists are used to discuss everything about Sidewinder, and all lists are open for anyone to join.

There are two separate lists: one for people who are using Sidewinder to build or run applications; and one relating to the development of Sidewinder itself.

Joining

Users' list

This is the list for people using Sidewinder to build or run applications. If you have questions, ideas or a bug to report, then please join here:

Developers' List

This is the list for people who are contributing to the development of Sidewinder itself, although anyone is free to join. This list is also used to submit patches, which may be accepted into the Sidewinder code repository.

If you're not sure which list to join, then you should probably start with the users' list, above. Otherwise, join here:

Archives

Before you start asking questions on the mailing-lists, you should first search the archives. You may not be the first to raise your question and it might have been answered already.

Contributing

If you'd like to contribute to the development of Sidewinder we need you to fill out a short form and send it to us, otherwise we can't be sure that we can safely use your work. Patches, in unified diff format, should be sent to the developers' mailing list (see above). Contributors are requested to read and bear in mind the Sidewinder coding style guidelines.
